~ (1999) is a comprehensive inventory of pre-academic and academic skills that allows criterions-referenced testing for readiness, speech, word recognition, grade placement, oral reading, reading comprehension, listening, functional word recognition, word analysis, reference skills, graphs, & maps, spelling, writing, numbers, number facts, whole number computation, fraction & mixed numbers, decimals, percents, word problems, metrics, and math vocabulary.
154 Assessments are included in all.
As with the original ed., CIBS-R provides extensive criterion-referenced information about basic academic skills. New to this edition is a standardized scoring procedure and norms which can be used to obtain norm-referenced scores for students in grades pre-K - 6 who are assessed with CIBS-R.
Standardized/Readiness scoring sheets are available to assist in recording and calculating norm-referenced scores using the standardized socring procedure.
The Readiness test-form derives composite scores for: general knowledge and language, gross-motor skills, graphomotor, reading, writing, and math skills.
The Grades 1-6 Screening Forms packages include both the teacher form, and the three screening test-forms (Reading Comprehension, Sentence Writing and Math Computation). Screening forms are intended to provide an indication of a student's need for further testing in one of these broad academic domains. Purchasing the screening test booklets saves the trouble of having to reproduce these test-forms from the duplication masters provided in the CIBS-R Manual.
To conduct criterion-referenced assessment, the CIBS Student record books are required. These must be purchased separately from the kit.

CANADIAN TEST OF BASIC SKILLS (CTBS)
~ (1997) is a group administered, comprehensive test of academic achievement. CTBS is a Canadian revision of the widely used U.S. Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). There are two non-equivalent forms of the CTBS at the elementary /middle school levels (forms K & L). Form K is a complete battery and comes in two separate booklets (Language Arts and Math & Science). At the Primary grades, the Form K Language Arts subtests include: Vocabulary, Passage Comprehension, Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, Usage & Expression and Reference Materials. Math & Science subtests include: Concepts & Estimation, Problem Solving and Data Interp., Computation, Science, Maps and Diagrams.
When CTBS is administered with CCAT (listed separately in this catalog) an accurate comparison of achievement vs. learning potential, can be obtained. Note that where suggested grade/age levels of group administered tests overlap, it is always preferable to use the higher level, unless students are known to be unable to work at grade level.
Level/grade equivalencies: Level 5 = Kindergarten-1.5;
Level 6 = K.8 - grade 1.9; Level 7 = grades 1.5-2.6;

DEGREES OF READING POWER (DRP)
~ (2000) measures functional literacy by using a wide range of applications to assess the level at which individuals or groups read. Two alternate equivalent forms are available. The Advanced levels (T & U) focus on how well students are able to reason with prose and consist of a 20 item short form. Primary test booklets are consumed -- there are no answer sheets for these forms. Standard and Advanced test booklets are reusable, and require separate answer sheets. The Scoring Disk includes a scoring key and is used after handscoring the test. Raw scores are converted into the corresponding DRP scores at five levels of comprehension as well as national percentiles, NCE's and stanines.
